Good Food Starts Here

At Sainsbury’s, good food starts long before it reaches our plates. Our incredible farmers and suppliers are putting care and commitment in developing great quality products for our customers all year round.

To champion the brilliant people behind our seasonal favourites and lift the lid on what it takes to keep the UK food system delivering good food for all of us, Chef Ian Haste meets some of the people behind our seasonal favourites, to learn more about what it takes to get them to your table.

From British strawberries, Scottish sprouts and free‑range eggs, we’re celebrating the quality, heritage and hard work behind good food, and showcasing the power of long-term partnership in securing our food system for the future.

Easter

Strawberries in the New Forest with New Forest Fruits Co.

Ever wondered what it takes to get British strawberries ready for the season ahead?

In our first short film, Chef Ian Haste travels to meet the team at New Forest Fruits Co., one of our long‑standing strawberry suppliers. At peak season, the team grow, pick and pack six million strawberries every day, with quality and care guiding every step. Supported by its long-term partnership with Sainsbury’s, New Forest Fruits Co. has been able to invest in new growing techniques and technology, helping extend the season and deliver the best quality strawberries. It’s this long-term approach that helps protect the future of British strawberries and gives us something to look forward to when the season rolls around.

Salmon in the Scottish Highlands with Mowi

An Easter favourite for Good Friday and beyond, our salmon starts its journey in the lochs of the Scottish Highlands. Ian follows Sainsbury's salmon from loch to plate – from open-water enclosures large enough to fit a Boeing 747, through to filleting and smoking in Rosyth. We’re proud to source ASC-certified farmed seafood, with expert fishmongers preparing around 20,000 tonnes of salmon each week for Sainsbury’s. Built on a trusted partnership with Mowi spanning more than 20 years, it's this shared commitment to great-quality products and exceptional fish welfare standards that means we can deliver salmon our customers can trust, not only at Easter but all year round.

Eggs in the Lakes District with The Lakes Free Range Egg Co.

Eggs are an everyday staple, but they’re especially popular at Easter. And many of the eggs on our shelves start life on a family‑run farm in Cumbria. Ian travels to Penrith to meet the family behind The Lakes Free Range Egg Co., a long‑standing Sainsbury’s supplier known for free‑range eggs with rich yolks that our customers love. He also explores why more white eggs are appearing on shelves - a shift that supports a more sustainable approach to egg production, without compromising on quality. Working alongside the Woodland Trust, it’s a partnership that shows great eggs don’t happen by accident, but are the result of collaboration, care for nature and a shared commitment to protecting the landscapes our hens depend on.

From delicious strawberries to rich smoked salmon and farm‑fresh eggs, thank you to the farmers, growers and makers who help to bring every spring table to life.

Christmas

Sprouts in East Lothian with Kettle Produce

Want to know how 100 million Brussels sprouts make it to our tables each Christmas? In our first short-film, Chef Ian Haste travels to East Lothian to meet three generations of the Logan family who are working in partnership with Sainsbury’s and Kettle Produce to get their sprouts onto Sainsbury’s shelves. In December alone they will harvest 180 acres of quality sprouts (that’s 90 football pitches) to make sure the nation's Christmas plates are piled high with this festive icon.

Stilton in Leicestershire with Long Clawson Dairy

What does it take to make the perfect wedge of Stilton for your Christmas cheeseboard? Ian heads to Long Clawson - the co-operative that’s been crafting this festive favourite for Sainsbury’s since 1913 - to find out. With 2,500 wheels of DOP-certified Stilton being made every single day, the Dairy and cheesemakers work hard all year round to ensure the best tasting, consistent and high quality cheese end up on our festive plates. Made from milk sourced exclusively from farms in the three surrounding counties of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire, every wheel is a true taste of tradition. From the farms supplying the milk to the skilled cheesemakers shaping every wheel, quality is at the heart of every step.

Beef in Wiltshire with ABP

What’s your favourite Christmas dinner centrepiece? In our third short-film Ian heads to Wiltshire to meet Alex Rawling - one of our trusted beef suppliers who works with ABP to help us get quality roasts on tables across the nation. Not only is Alex helping more people enjoy an alternative centrepiece this festive season, he’s also supporting Gamechanger beef farming - producing lower-carbon beef designed to reduce emissions by 25% while improving taste and farming sustainability.

Carrots & Parsnips in Nottinghamshire with Strawson's

You can't forget the finishing touches to everyone's favourite Christmas dinner - the roast veg! In the final stop on our Christmas adventure, Ian headed to Strawson’s to meet the team delivering over 500 tonnes of carrots and parsnips every day to put the crunch in your Christmas lunch.  From adopting electric vehicles to planning next year’s crops, this partnership is all about care, innovation, and sustainability.

This wraps up our journey across the UK - from sprouts in Scotland to Blue Stilton in Leicestershire, tender beef in Wiltshire and now the root veg that completes your plate. Thank you to the farmers, growers, and makers who help make Christmas magical.
